£180k-a-week star reluctant to sign Manchester United deal

Manchester United number one choice goal keeper David De Gea has been reluctant to sign a new deal to seal his stay at the club.

De Gea has been very sensational, consistent, and brilliant for the Red Devils and he is no doubt one of the best goalkeepers the club has ever signed. He was named the club’s Player of the Year in four of the past five seasons as his country man Ander Herrera won the award for the 2016/2017 season.

Reports from Telegraph claims that efforts by the club to extend David De Gea’s contract at Old Trafford has proven abortive, the goalkeeper is not sure if the club has the capacity to challenge and win trophies.

The goalkeeper was almost on the verge of leaving the club to Real Madrid in 2015 before the deal flopped in the last minute of the day the transfer window closed.

According to the report, Spanish agent Jorge Mendes could not agree a new contract for the goalie when he met with the clubs official last week, and the club is now left with the task of convincing the player to stay.

Judging from United’s performance so far this season, the goalkeeper who has been with the club for quite sometime seems not too happy with the performances of his club and they might just see him heading for the exit door.
