25-year-old wants to play for Chelsea not Real Madrid

Belgian international, Thibaut Courtois is reportedly ready to snub the advances from Real Madrid by penning a new deal and extending his contract with the Blues.

The Belgian has been linked with a big money move to the Spanish capital this summer but the west London club are growing confident of keeping the shotstopper after he confirmed earlier this year he is close to signing a new long-term deal with the Premier League champions.

Reports from English publication, Metro, understand that the Belgian would be the highest paid goalkeeper in the world once he pens a new deal with the Blues.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is currently on a £100,000 per week wages but the new deal will make the highest paid player in Chelsea, a figure which is expected to be in the region of £200,000 per week wages.

He has grown into one of the best goalkeepers in the world since he returned from a three-year loan spell at Spanish side, Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014 and has been sensational for the Blues in goal so far this season conceding just 16 times in 23 Premier League games and have also kept 12 cleansheets, a stat only bettered by Manchester United shotstopper, David De Gea who has kept the highest number of cleansheets (13).

The 25-year-old is known for his excellent technique, anticipation, reflexes, command of his area and also saving close range shots.

Chelsea tying him down on a long-term deal will calm initial fears among the fans and will hope Belgian superstar, Eden Hazard can follow in his footsteps.
