£60m-rated defender reveals desperation to play against Man United

Leicester lost to United by 2-1 in the first match of the new premier league season and one player happy to begin the season is Harry Maguire.

Maguire was part of the England squad that made the semifinals and was given extended break due to the World Cup exhaustion. The former Hull City man was impressive despite the defeat as Leicester showed some fighting spirit towards the end of the game leading to a nervous ending at Old Trafford.

The towering defender revealed to Sky Sports that he felt pumped up to face United at Old Trafford despite just returning to the squad four days to the fixture. Maguire admitted that he felt tired towards the end which is understandable given that he is yet to gain full match fitness.

“There was a lot of talk before the game, whether I would come in and play,” Maguire told Sky Sports after the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

“The boss pulled me in on Monday and asked me if I wanted to play and as a footballer you never turn it down to play in in the Premier League. “I feel really privileged to play every game. If he wants me to play, I’m there to play. My legs were a bit tired towards the end with just three or four days training.

“If he asks you the question if you want to play and you’re available, I’m never going to turn it down.”

Maguire was linked with a move to Old Trafford but decided to stay and is set for a big season as he is the main star of the Leceister team now that Riyard Mahrez has moved to Manchester City.

If he continues his performances this season it would only be a matter of time before he makes a big move away from the King Power Stadium. Maguire moved from Hull City to Leicester last summer for a fee reported to be around £17 million.
