£65m-rated Man United CB target on the brink of signing deal

Harry Maguire is set to sign a new contract with Leicester after the club fended off interest from Manchester United. the England International increased his value with an outstanding world cup where he alongside John Stones marshalled the defence in England’s surprise run to the semifinals.

His performances led to interest from United towards the end of the transfer window with a fee of £65 million submitted by the Red Devils for his signature. However, Leicester refused to sell claiming that the player was not available for any price.

Leceister had been planning to give the player a new contract this season and talks had begun during the world cup. this has been pushed forward due to the renewed interest of United for the defender. Maguire s believed to be happy at Leicester despite professing his wish for an ambitious club.

This has led the club’s chiefs to reward the defender with a new contract reportedly worth £175,000 weekly according to the Telegraph making him the highest paid player in the club. Maguire played in the opening day defeat to United and revelled his enthusiasm to play for the club this season

The 25-year-old defender arrived fromHull City last summer for a fee of £17 million.
