90% Done: Arsenal to announce £20m transfer in coming days – not Torreira

If reports from Germany are to be believed Arsenal are set to wrap up a £20 million deal for German stopper Bernd Leno. Skysports claim the deal is close to completion with only minor details remaining for the Gunners to confirm the signing.

Leno who has a £22 million buy-out clause in his current contract was recently linked with a move to Anfield outfit Liverpool. However, it looks like Arsenal have beaten their rivals to the signature of the highly coveted goalkeeper.

Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller had earlier this month told reporters that the club was open to offers for the 26-year-old. According to Voller Napoli were close to securing the services of the shot-stopper last season, only for Leverkusen to pull the plug on the deal due to not having a ready replacement for the Goalkeeper.

He revealed the club’s willingness to sell Bernd since they have signed a worthy replacement in Lukas Hradecky.

Arsenal wants the 26-year-old to challenge current number 1 Petr Cech for the goalkeeping position. The German international who won the confederations cup last year is highly rated in Europe.

Leno has been with Leverkusen since 2013 and has kept 100 clean sheets for the German side.
