Algerian international open to a move to Arsenal

Algerian international Riyad Mahrez is reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates, the winger was linked with a move away from the Foxes in the summer transfer window with clubs like Spurs, AS Roma, Barcelona and Manchester United all linked with a move for the Algerian but none materialized. However, with Arsene Wenger recently admitting both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil could leave the Emirates in January after both players refused to extend their contract at the Emirates and are entering the finals of their contract, suitable replacements is needed.

Wenger will be hoping to cash-in on the duo in the winter transfer window or risk losing them on a free next summer, the money recouped from the potential sale of the contract rebels should be enough to sign the former PFA player of the year as it is believed the player could be available for £30 million.

The Algerian international has struggled to replicate the form that saw him play a pivotal role in Leicester’s unexpected title triumph in the 2015/16 season, but, playing under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger at the Emirates and with the presence of more quality players, he could rediscover his form of two years ago if he eventually moves to the Emirates either in the winter or summer. The former Le Havre player was pivotal for the Foxes in the Champions League last season before a quarter final exit against Atletico Madrid, he scored four goals and provided two assists. He might have had a difficult start to the season but his quality can’t be overlooked and could be an ideal replacement for wantaway striker Alexis Sanchez.

The 26-year-old is known for his pace, dribbling and creativity, he has played seven games for the Foxes so far this season and is yet to record a single goal or assist.
