Announcement imminent as Chelsea agree £28m for Costa’s replacement

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a £28 million fee with Serie A side AS Roma over the sale of Bosnian forward, Edin Dzeko.

The Blues have not hidden their desire in the pursuit of a target man this January transfer window having watched record summer signing Alvaro Morata struggle massively in front of goal over the past few weeks.

The west London club have been heavily linked with potential moves for Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Fernando Llorente, and Ashley Barnes in recent weeks but none seems to be have materialized.

However, the Blues have now turned their attention to former Manchester City striker, Edin Dzeko who they believe will put former Real Madrid forward, Alvaro Morata on his toes given his brilliance in front of goal and proven Premier League experience.

Metro claims that the Blues have agreed an initial fee of £28 million with Roma but could rise up to a fee in the excess of £30 million including bonuses and ad-ons.

Although, it is believed talks are still on-going between both clubs but the Premier League champions are growing confident of signing the hitman before the window shuts.

The 31-year-old has been pivotal for Roma across all competitions this season scoring 12 times and providing four assists.

The Bosnian centre forward looks like a steal for £28 million in this current transfer market and will be a quality addition to the Blues given his aerial prowess and level of experience.
