Antonio Conte convinced £57m striker can replace Diego Costa

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Roma striker, Edin Dzeko this January transfer window with Conte keen to bolster his attacking options.

The Blues have been in the hunt for a target man having watched the form of Alvaro Morata dipped recently and have been heavily linked with moves for Andy Carroll, Fernando Llorente, and Peter Crouch over the last few days with the west London club in search of a back-up striker to summer signing Alvaro Morata.

However, with the Blues failing in their pursuit of the trio they have stepped up chase for former Manchester City striker, Edin Dzeko who they believe can provide stiff competition for Spanish striker Alvaro Morata.

It is believed the Bosnian forward could be allowed to leave the Stadio Olimpico this month for a fee in the region of £57 million with the Serie A side hoping to balance their books this month but the Blues are hoping to get him for a reduced fee.

Although, reports in Italy suggest the Premier League champions might be willing to offer out-of-favour Chelsea striker, Michy Batshuayi as a makeweight in the deal that will see Dzeko move to Stamford Bridge while the Belgian moves in the opposite direction.

The 31-year-old left the Premier League in the summer of 2015 to join AS Roma for a reported fee of €4 million having helped the Citizens to win the FA Cup, League Cup and two Premier League titles.

He has featured in 26 games for the Serie A side this season scoring 12 times and providing four assists.
