Arsenal to agree deal for Russia defender

Reuters reports that Arsenal are interested in signing Russian defender Igor Diveev after the youngster impressed at the COTIF youth tournament. Diveev was impressive for Russia at the youth tournament and scored against Argentina under 20 team while delivering study performances.

The Gunners had several scouts in the youth tournament and they were impressed with what they saw from the 18-year-old. The scouts have reported to the club chiefs that the Russian is worthy of a trial with the London club. Arsenal are considering tabling an offer to Diveev club FC Ufa who have been drawn to face Rangers in the next round of the Europa League. The Russian club are believed to be open to offers for the highly-rated teenager.

Arsenal are thought to still be on the look for defenders despite the signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Stephan Lichtsteiner this summer. However, they are still leaking goals conceding five goals already this season in just two matches.

Diveev would most likely join up with the Gunners youth squad and would be a good addition to the highly rated youth setup.  Arsenal next faces West Ham on Saturday as they look to secure their first points under new manager Unai Emery.
