This week has been an excellent week for Juan Mata who scored a freekick for United in the midweek which sparked the comeback for a victory against Juventus in Turin.

According to reports in England, the 30-year-old is a target for Arsenal for a summer transfer. Mata’s contract expires at the end of the season and United have shown no signs of offering the midfielder a new deal.

Mata’s fractious relationship with Jose Mourinho is well documented and it looks like the Spaniard could be leaving Old Trafford in the summer.

Unai Emery is interested in the player and seeks to take advantage of the poor relationship to move for the player on a free. Emery and Mata have a history together as he played under Emery in Valencia before making a transfer to Chelsea in 2011.

Mata has been demoted to a fringe player at United since the arrival of the Portuguese in 2015 despite the player’s obvious talents.

Arsenal are preparing a nice contract offer for the midfielder which the club hopes would pave the way for him to swap Manchester for London. Mata would be an exciting signing as he has the quality and experience to improve the Gunners’ midfield.

This transfer is going to provide twists and turns in the next few months as the World Cup winner contemplates his future.
