Arsenal prepare £75m for third and fourth January signings – report

Arsenal are reportedly front-runners to sign the impressive duo of Jonny Evans and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a combined £75 million with Arsene Wenger keen on bolstering his squad this month following the departure of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United.

The departure of Alexis Sanchez has left a big void at the Emirates but the Gunners have reportedly earmarked Gabonese striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as his perfect replacement.

The north London club have been in advanced talks with the German outfit for the past few days over the possibility of signing Aubameyang but both sides are yet to agree on a fee with Borussia Dortmund having reportedly rejected an initial £44 million bid from the Gunners last weekend.

It is believed the Bundesliga side are only willing to sell for a figure in the region of £53 million and provided a replacement is secured before the window shuts.

Meanwhile, reports making the round suggest the Gunners are now favorites to sign West Brom defender, Jonny Evans after Premier League leaders, Manchester City have seemingly dropped their interest in the defender in the pursuit of Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.

The Baggies captain is being valued around £20 million and could be tempted with a move to the Emirates with West Brom hoping to use the funds from his sale to bolster their squad this month.

Both players will be a fantastic addition to the Gunners and may help the north London club in their hunt for a top four finish this season having missed out on the Champions League last term.

Aubameyang  will ease the goal-scoring burden placed on record signing Alexandre Lacazette who has struggled lately in front of goal while 30-year-old defender, Jonny Evans will improve the Gunners leaky defence.
