Arsenal send scouts to watch Swiss defender



Arsenal have been linked with Basel prodigy Eray Comert according to reports coming from England. The Daily Mail reveals that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old this season.

Comert has enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Swiss giants and has impressed with his level of consistency at the back. This has led to growing attention for the defender and Everton are understood to be keeping tabs on the player.

Comert has 18 months left on his contract and Basel are willing to listen to offers for the player. He has reportedly rejected two contract offers from the club and Arsenal are looking to take advantage of this situation and sign the player for around £5million.

It is understood that Unai Emery would be given a budget of just £45million to sign players in the summer. The Spaniard is expected to look for bargains in the transfer market and there is genuine hope that Comert can become the next Guendouzi.

Guendouzi has turned out to be one of the bargains of the season, providing tenacity and work rate in the middle for the club this season.
