Arsenal are shock favorites to land Argentine shotstopper

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a shock move for Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero in the January transfer window.

The Argentine number one joined Manchester United on a three-year deal in the summer of 2015 on a free transfer from Italian side Sampdoria, but has always played second fiddle to David de Gea who is arguably the best in the division and one of the best in the world.

Although, he had a shaky start to his Old Trafford career in his first season but he improved with time and was key in United’s triumph in the Europa League last season after he got the nod ahead of Spanish international, De Gea in the competition.

The former Sampdoria goalkeeper has featured mainly in the Cup competitions and has been limited to just 4 appearances so far, this season.

However, reports making the rounds suggest he could be open to a move away from the Theatre of Dreams in the January transfer window as he believes he need to start regularly or he might lose his place as first choice goalkeeper for the Albiceleste ahead of next summer World Cup in Russia.

With Arsene Wenger keen to bolster his squad in the January transfer window, the Gunners have reportedly been tagged as huge favorites to land the Argentine shotstopper as per report from Manchester Evening News.

Despite boasting of two quality goalkeepers in Petr Cech and David Ospina it is left to be seen how Sergio Romero will become first choice at the Emirates.
