‘Average defender’, ‘Arsenal player’ – Chelsea fans attack star on Twitter

Having dispatched Brighton & Hove Albion easily by four goals to nothing over the weekend at the Amex Stadium many would have thought the Blues are back to their attacking best but reverse was the case as the Premier League champions failed to capitalise on an early lead by Eden Hazard and allowed the Gunners come from behind to set up a mouth-watering Carabao Cup final clash against Premier League leaders, Manchester City who defeated championship side, Bristol City 5-3 on aggregate.

After both sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg of the semi-final at Stamford Bridge, Belgian playmaker gave the visitors an early lead in the 7th minute at the Emirates stadium after being put through on goal by Pedro Rodriguez but summer signing Antonio Rudiger was unlucky to put Nacho Monreal’s header into the back of his own net in the 12th minute as the hosts restored parity.

Meanwhile, in the 60th minute German defender, Antonio Rudiger was also culpable for the Gunners second goal having failed to clear his lines properly and allowed Granit Xhaka poke the ball into the net easily to send the north London club into their 8th League Cup final.

Even though it wasn’t one of the best performances from the Blues as a whole, Antonio Rudiger had a shocker and a night to forget as he was unlucky to get a goal and an assist on the wrong side to turn around the tie for the Gunners.

Below is what fans have been saying about Antonio Rudiger below par performance against Chelsea on social media platform, twitter:

With the Blues winning just one of their last six games across all competition this year, and with one shot on target in either half against the Gunners last night it can only be fitting for the west London club to step up chase for winter transfer target Edin Dzeko.
