Barcelona releases official statement on Dembele to Arsenal transfer

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde believes Arsenal target Ousmane Dembele remains a key component of the Catalan outfit despite speculations on the Player’s future.

Dembele has been speculated by media sources in Spain to be on his way out of the Camp Nou after an underwhelming debut season for the club. The 21-year-old joined Barcelona from Borrusia Dortmund last summer in a fee worth €107 million but struggled with injuries and loss of form but still has the backing of his manager Ernesto Valverde.

Valverde in a recent interview expressed his belief in the young forward and maintained that Dembele could bring something special to the squad this season.

The arrival of Brazillian ace Malcolm from Bordeaux has heightened fears for Dembele future’s as both players essentially play the same position.   When quizzed on what Malcolm arrival means for Dembele, Valverde conceded that the squad needs to be rotated during the course of the season and insisted that the added competition is good for the team.

‘Let’s hope it’s his season,’ said Valverde.

‘He is an extraordinary player. The past year has been complicated because of the injuries, but even so he has brought us a lot .There are a lot of matches and we can not handle them with only eleven players. ‘The important thing is that there is competition within the team.’

This news would comes as a disappointment to Arsenal fans with some reports claiming that the player could make a temporary switch his summer on a season-long loan.

Dembele has come a long way since his breakthrough season with Rennes and has developed into one of the best young prodigies in the game.
