Chelsea to agree transfer of veteran defender

Southampton are interested to sign Chelsea’s Gary Cahill as he prepares for an exit from Stamford Bridge by January.

The England defender known for his technical ability with the ball and a powerful heading when it comes to defending and attacking, has had quite an impressive record in goal scoring despite being a defender.

32-year old Cahill joined the Blues in 2012 has received interest from Southampton who hopes to get him signed once his deal with Chelsea expires.

Cahill’s time with the Blues have been highly productive and has had quite an impressive performance, but he has admitted he is considering a move away from the club in order to get a better playing time in the first-team line-up.

Southampton on the other hand, will be clashing with Sarri’s side on Saturday. The Saint’s season campaign haven’t been quite impressive as they conceded goals in their match against Leicester City, had a draw with Brighton, and also conceded a late goal in their match with Everton that ended in a penalty.

The Saints are hoping to bring in an excellent talent that will see to a better outcome in their games.

So far, Mark Hughes side have only been able to keep clean sheets twice this season, and a boost in their defence side won’t be a bad idea to see to a better performance for their remaining games for this season.
