Arsenal are looking at the possibility of bolstering their midfield options in the winter transfer window and have made Udinese midfielder, Jakub Jankto a potential target next month.
The Sun reports that the Gunners are reportedly keeping tabs on the midfielder, but might have to fend off competition from rival and Premier League champions who have also shown keen interest in the Czech international.
The former Slavia Prague midfielder could be available for a reported fee of €25 million and has not closed the door on the possibility of playing in the Premier League having admitted he doesn’t want to play in Italy throughout his career.
The Czech midfielder moved to Italian side Udinese in 2014 from Slavia Prague for a fee in the region of €700,000 but was loaned out to Serie B side Ascoli in 2015.
However, he returned to Udinese the following season after impressive displays on loan at Ascoli and has grown to become one of the top midfielders in the Serie A.
He is primarily deployed in a central midfield role and prefers to play on the left side of the midfield and has featured in 15 appearances for The Little Zebras so far, this season scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists in all competitions.
He is known for his ability to hold onto the ball very well, likes to shoot from distance and also a set-piece specialist.
The 21-year-old would be a good addition to the Gunners midfield given his age and potential, and could be a long-term replacement for Spanish maestro Santi Cazorla who has been plagued with injury over the past one year.
