Chelsea close to agreeing €100M deal in days

Chelsea summer dealings have so far been on paper without any concrete confirmation on many of the players linked to Stamford Bridge. However, Italian sports outlet Corriere dello Sport claims that the Blues have agreed a double swoop worth £100 million for Juventus duo, Higuain and Rugani.

Chelsea have been in negotiations with Juventus over the transfer of the two players as Sarri seeks to implement his playing style.

Corriere dello Sport had earlier claimed that Chelsea were close to agreeing on deals worth £53 million and £55 million for Higuain and Rugani respectively.

Maurizio Sarri has reportedly sanctioned the purchase of the two players as he wants players he can trust ahead of the new season. Higuain and Rugani have a prior relationship with Sarri having worked with the Italian tactician at Napoli and Empoli respectively.

While the signing of Rugani would improve the defence a little the more important signing that Blues want is for Higuain. The former Napoli hitman has had an excellent stint in Italy breaking the Serie A most goals in a season record (36) and netting a good return of a goal every two matches at Juventus.

Higuain’s signing would also signal a statement of intent which could sway Hazard and Courtois from leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.

Juventus are reportedly likely to sell both players as they seek to recoup the summer outlay spent in the purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo.
