Chelsea close in on deal for World Cup winner

Lyon’s Nabir Fekir is said to be close in finalising his move to Chelsea.

The Lyon playmaker was speculated to be joining Liverpool back in June but it never materialised and he has now agreed on personal terms with the Blues.

Chelsea was said to have been in a rush-hour in order to meet up with the transfer deadline.

Reports from Caughtoffside claims Fekir’s transfer fee could prove to be a barrier as the English side Chelsea haven’t been able to come to terms with the £60million asking price for Fekir, they could only provide £54million plus potential add-ons.

However, Chelsea have made four signings to the club this summer transfer window with the likes of Jorginho arriving from Napoli, Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao and Mateo Kovacic signed from Madrid after he was swapped with Thibault Courtois.

Meanwhile, Fekir wasn’t seen during pre-season friendly match against Chelsea on Tuesday and when Lyon’s boss Bruno Genesio was asked about the 25-year old future, he stated “Who knows? There may be opportunities that come up before the end of the window…. For now, he is a Lyon player.”

However, the Blues starts their Premier League campaign at Huddersfield on Saturday as we wait to see if the move materialises.
