Chelsea completing £87m double transfer swoop next week

AC Milan forward Gonzalo Higuain is understood to have undergone a medical on Friday in London ahead of his loan move to Chelsea. According to reports, Higuain was expected to be registered before the crunch tie against Arsenal on Saturday but they failed to meet the deadline.

Chelsea have offered to match the forward’s current wages of around £170,000 in order to complete the move. They had been negotiating with Juventus for the player in recent weeks and both parties only came to an agreement on Wednesday night.

Juventus agreed on a six-month loan deal which could be extended to an extra year based on his performances at the club. Higuain’s brother and agent Nicolas was in London on Thursday to finalise personal terms paving the way for the move.

Higuain’s arrival is set to trigger the departure of Spanish forward Alvaro Morata to Atletico Madrid on a loan deal with an option to make permanent in the summer for around £28million.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is keen on reuniting with Higuain as he plots a return to the Champions League places this season and an extended run in the Europa League.

Milan have begun negotiations with Genoa over the transfer of Polish forward Krzysztof Piatek as Higuain’s replacement.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are eyeing a move for Zenit St Petersburg midfielder, Leandro Paredes. The Blues have seen their first bid rejected and reports have it that they are back with £36m offer for the classy player. However, there is a twist to this, as PSG are believed to have open talks to sign the player.
