Chelsea are reportedly lining up a double swoop for Roma duo, Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri ahead of a potential winter move.

The Blues who recently signed Ross Barkley for a reported £15 million last week are still in the market for a striker and a left-sided defender.

The Premier League champions have been heavily linked with a move for both Andy Carroll and Alex Sandro this transfer window but an unexpected injury to the West Ham striker and Juventus not ready to sell Sandro mid-season has prompted the Blues to switch their attention to Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri.

Daily Star reports that the west London club are in talks with the Serie A side over the possibility of signing both Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri for a combined £44 million this month but it is believed the Serie A outfit will only consider selling the duo for a combined £77 million this winter transfer window.

Although, the Blues are ready to include out of favor Chelsea striker, Michi Batshuayi as a makeweight in the deal that will see the duo of Dzeko and Palmieri move to Stamford Bridge while the Belgian striker moves in the opposite direction.

Antonio Conte’s move for both Edin Dzeko and Palmieri makes perfect sense given the Bosnian Premier League experience and quality while the Brazilian will be a cheaper alternative to Juventus defender, Alex Sandro.

The 31-year-old has featured in 26 games for AS Roma across all competitions this season scoring 12 times and providing four assists while 23-year-old defender, Emerson Palmieri is yet to feature for the Romans this season having just recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that has kept him out since May 2017.

Both players will be a fantastic addition to the Blues and will provide stiff competition for both Alvaro Morata and Marcos Alonso.
