Premier League champions, Chelsea are keeping tabs on highly rated Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Leon Bailey in a bid to sign the Jamaican in the winter transfer window.

Reports from English publication the Sun suggests he could be the subject of a two-way transfer battle between Chelsea and Catalan giants Barcelona who are also interested in the player.

The Jamaican international has been on the radar of the Blues for a while with reports making the rounds claiming he has been scouted and closely monitored by the Premier League champions from his days at Belgian side Genk.

He joined Bayer Leverkusen from Belgian side Genk last summer for a reported fee of €20 million and has grown into one of the most highly rated youngster in the Bundesliga since he moved to the Bay Arena.

However, according to reports in Germany, the Blues are willing to complete a deal for him in the winter transfer window, but are ready to loan him back to Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the season.

Although, the Jamaican attacking midfielder might not come cheap with his existing contract at the Bay Arena set to expire in 2022.

The 20-year-old is often deployed either on the right or left side of the midfield and can also play in a defensive midfield role.

He is known for his blistering pace, dribbling, crossing, ability to shoot from distance, likes cutting inside and also a free-kick specialist.
