Chelsea interested in signing £45m attacking midfielder

Chelsea are looking at signing Morocco ace Hakim Ziyech from Dutch giants in the summer according to reports from Italy. Italian tabloid Calcio Mercato claims that the Blues have identified the playmaker as a key addition for the summer.

Ziyech has emerged as a key player for Ajax since his £11 million move from FC Twente in 2016. Blessed with a lethal left foot and an eye for goal, Ziyech’s performances have turned heads across Europe this season.

The 25-year-old has scored 16 goals and chipped in with 13 assists in all competitions with a few months before the end of the season. He also grabbed the goal in Ajax 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid last week.

Ajax are known for placing a premium on their players and the Morocco international is not expected to go cheaply. Chelsea would have to pay around £45 million for the attacking midfielder.

The Blues are looking to strengthen the team in the summer and reduce the overall age of the squad. current first team forwards Willian and Pedro are over 30 and both players have dropped in performances in the past few months.

It would be interesting to see how this transfer develops in the coming months as more teams become linked to the talented playmaker.
