Chelsea Vs Arsenal: Match Preview

Chelsea and Arsenal go head to head in a London derby match as Chelsea will host their north London rivals on Sunday, in a game that could prove to be the decider to the English Premier League title this season.

The EPL defending champions will be seeking to have their revenge against Arsenal after suffering two consecutive defeats at the FA cup final and community shield.

Arsenal have not only performed poorly at Stamford Bridge in recent years having suffered losses on seven of their last eight visits, they’ve also failed to register an away win in 13 games against any of last season’s top six teams.

Though when taking into cognizance the head to head tie by the managers of both teams, Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger seems to have an upper hand against Chelsea’s Antonio Conte, having registered 3 wins compared to Conte’s 1 win in the 4 matches played against each other so far.

A win by Chelsea could see them go top of the English Premier League while a win by Arsenal will not only see them go on level with Chelsea on the EPL table but should also be enough to regain the fans trust and confidence in the gunners having suffered two straight defeats against Liverpool and Stoke city so far in the league.

We could be seeing Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez return to the starting lineup for both Chelsea and Arsenal respectively given that both players are yet to start a league game for their respective teams this season and have both put up impressive performances at the European Cup earlier in the week. So, if both managers stick to their default 3 – 4 – 3 formations we may witness this potential starting line-up:

Chelsea: Courtois, Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Alonso, Zappacosta, Kante, Fabregas, Hazard, Pedro, Morata.

Arsenal:  Cech, Mustafi, Monreal, Koscielny, Bellerin, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette
