City team news: Probable Man City line up vs Arsenal – Mahrez to start

It seems like just yesterday that Manchester City lifted the EPL title with a record point tally of 100 points. However, that was 3 months ago and their campaign begins with a tough trip to the Emirates to face new-look Arsenal.

We are looking at the likely lineup of the Manchester outfit for the opening game of the season. Ederson is expected to start in goal as the sweeper goalkeeper in which he excelled last season. Kyle Walker will start at right-back following the experiment in the world cup where he played in a back three. While fit again Benjamin Mendy will claim the left back position.

The Centre back position is a bit uncertain as Guardiola has a full complement of 4 centre backs to call upon. However, John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi should make the cut and continue the fine partnership that was on display in the first half of last season.

Fernandinho would fill his customary holding position in the midfield, this would allow City to fill 2 attacking players which is customary Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva. However, Bernardo Silva has staked a claim to start at the Emirates and was impressive in the community shield victory against Chelsea.

Upfront Aguero is expected to lead the line keeping his younger protégé Gabriel Jesus on the bench and he will be ably supported on the flanks by the young PFA player of the year Leroy Sane and record signing Riyard Mahrez.

Expected starting 11. Ederson-Walker-Stones-Otamendi-Mendy-Fernandinho-De   Bruyne-Silva-Sane-Aguero-Mahrez  4-1-4-1
