In Liverpool, there exists a lull of activities in the transfer window as the club seem content with what they have got.

Although injuries have hit the league toppers hard, their German boss is unflinching in the face of the daunting challenges currently staring at him.

Liverpool have instead identified Sandro Tonali, a Brescia midfielder in Serie B and the midfield the area they are interested in upgrading and according to the owner of the Italian club, Massimo Cellino, Liverpool has contacted him over a possible transfer.

“Roma have asked me about Tonali,” he told Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Daily Star).

“I’ve talked with [sporting director Mauro] Baldissoni several times.

“But I want to keep the boy as long as possible.

“Is he ready yet? I don’t know. He’s still only 18. But a little while ago, Liverpool have also contacted me.”

The 18-year-old has been earmarked as a potential world class and was last year invited to the Italian senior team. Also a host of clubs are monitoring the player’s development.

The youngster’s style and approach have been compared to some of he brightest minds in the game such as Marco Verrrati, Gennaro Gattuso and even Pirlo.

However, the young midfielder wants to mould his game in the image of the aggressive but controlled and determined nature of Gennaro Gattuso.

The interest in the Italian youngster is for the future and besides, the Serie B outfit don’t think he is ready to take the next step in his development. So any club interested must have deep pocket to convince Brescia to sell.
