Liverpool long pursuit of Nabil Fekir was one of the major topics in the summer transfer window with the Reds pulling the plug due to a failed medical. News from France reports that Liverpool are set to move for Fekir’s teammate Houssem Aouar.

According to RMC journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly in a two-way battle for the starlet.

Aouar is developing at a fast pace at Lyon and has emerged as one of the top talents in the French side. He possesses a great first touch, brilliant dribbling ability and an eye for goal, which has gained the attention of top English clubs. It is believed that the Anfield outfit considers Aouar a better replacement for Coutinho than Fekir.

It would take a massive bid for the Reds to land the highly rated wonderkid as Lyon are notorious in their transfer dealings.

Aouar would bring the creativity in the midfield which could unleash the firepower of the famed front three of Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

The 20-year-old has scored 5 goals and 4 assists in his last 11 Lyon appearances in all competitions.  This report should be taken serious as RMC was one of the first news outlets to break out the news of Fabinho transfer in the Summer.
