Coutinho’s replacement? Attacker’s boss hints at Liverpool move

Bordeaux boss Jocelyn Gourvennec has hinted on Liverpool’s interest in signing the highly rated prospect Malcom Oliveira. The Brazilian has been in fine form this season and has attracted a host of top clubs with his impressive performances for Bordeaux.

According to reports from the Mirror, the 20-year-old has recently been linked with a move to Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger apparently keen on the Brazilian as a replacement for the departing Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean’s exit from the club is imminent , with Manchester United reportedly favourites in securing his signature. However, according to the Bordeaux boss, it appears Liverpool are the front runners in the battle for his signature.

The Reds were forced to let go of Phillipe Coutinho whose unwavered decision to join the Catalans defied belief, despite still having some years to run on his contract with Liverpool. As a result, the club are in search of quality legs to add to their attack, with a number of names consistently mentioned.

The likes of Riyad Mahrez and Malcom have been linked to a move to Liverpool but it appears it is the latter who may be joining after all.

Bordeaux manager, Gourvennec said “He’s asking himself what’s the best thing for him, for his future. That’s logicaL If he’s asking questions and he still manage to make assists or score goals, it’ll be fine.”

Gourvennec further added: “If Liverpool want you to work for them tomorrow, you’d go. “I’m a coach, I’d like to be able to count on Malcom, Malcom has to help us.

“There is one person who decides in this, that’s the majority shareholder. “He talked about this at the weekend, but football remains football.

The reports also state, a bid of £45 million would be enough to convince the French club to depart with their prized asset.
