Deal Close: Agent Jets into London to Seal £140k-a-week Player Move

Embattled Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata is a step closer to a move away from the club according to the latest reports from Europe.

ESPN FC claims that the player’s agent Juanma Lopez flew into London on Wednesday to discuss a possible January loan move to Sevilla.

Lopez also met Sevilla chief Joaquin Caparros earlier in the week to negotiate a potential deal for the former Real Madrid forward.  Capparos later confirmed Sevilla’s interest in the forward on Tuesday, revealing that the club wants to sign an extra forward to complement Ben Yedder and Andre Silva.

However, Caparros also said that a deal would be difficult and complex due to the player’s wages as well as a transfer fee.

“It is true that we have monitored Morata’s situation but it’s also true that it’s a very, very complex operation because of the cost of the transfer,”

Morata has endured a difficult spell at Chelsea since his big-money move to the club last season.  He has scored a meagre nine goals in as many appearances this season and looks to be out of sorts at Stamford Bridge.

Sevilla’s manager Pablo Machin also revealed his desire to add a player of Morata’s calibre to his squad. He revealed that Morata would be an excellent signing for the club and would be a statement of intent to their rivals.

“Having Morata would be a good problem for me — or I’ll even take away the word problem. It would be a blessing for me. The objective of the club is clear: wanting to bring the best in”

Local news in Spain reports that the Morata is ready to take a pay-cut to join the club on loan until the end of the season. It will be interesting to see how this transfer pans out, but any move for the player would be subject to the Blues signing a replacement in January.
