Deal Close: Arsenal in talks to make £53m man their third January signing



Arsenal chief executive are reportedly still in Germany with the north London club hoping to wrap up a deal for Borussia Dortmund striker, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The Borussia Dortmund hitman has been touted as a direct replacement for Manchester United bound Alexis Sanchez who is reportedly close to completing a move to the Theatre of Dreams this month.

Skysports understand that Arsenal chief executive, Ivan Gazidis is still in talks with the German club over the possibility of signing wantaway striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this winter transfer window.

It is believed the Gunners submitted a fee in the region of £44 million for the hitman over the weekend but it was reportedly rejected with the German outfit only willing to listen to offers in the region of £53 million and would also be open to the idea of including French striker, Olivier Giroud has a makeweight in any potential deal.

The Frenchman who has found regular first team football having been used majorly in cup games might be open to a switch to the Signal Iduna Park provided he will get enough playing time in other to boost his chances of representing his country at this summer FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The Gabonese striker was recently dropped from the Borussia Dortmund matchday squad against Hertha Berlin last week Friday in the wake of the Gunners interest in the forward as they believe he is not in the right frame of mind to play.

Despite his off-field antics at the Bundesliga side this season the 28-year-old has been prolific in front of goal scoring 21 times and providing 3 assists in 24 games across all competitions.
