Deal closed: James Rodriguez makes final decision on January transfer to Gunners

Arsenal had been in recent days linked to a sensation move for Colombian star James Rodriguez with multiple reports suggesting a move could be close. However, ESPN reports that the player is uninterested in the move and wants to fight for a place at Bayern Munich.

Rodriguez is currently in the final six months of the two-year loan deal with the Bavarians but has struggled under manager Niko Kovac.  He has made a paltry eight appearances this season but has netted three times.

Arsenal were understood to be ready to pay the outstanding £3 million loan fee owed to Real Madrid in order to complete a 6 months loan deal. The Gunners are in a financial mess at the moment and are looking to bring players on loan this window.

However, the 27-year-old wants to remain at the German side and work his way back into the first team. Bayern Munich paid £11.5 million to take the player on loan 18 months ago and can make the move permanent for around £39.5m in the summer.

Arsenal have turned their attention to other targets and it looks likely that Denis Suarez could move to the club by next week. Spanish football expert Guillem Balague revealed that a deal was already in place and Barcelona want the player to play against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey next Wednesday before sanctioning the transfer.

Arsenal have a crunch tie against Chelsea at the Emirates on Saturday before facing Manchester United next Friday in the FA Cup.
