Arsenal have secured the signing of highly-rated teenage striker Sam Greenwood from Sunderland.

The highly coveted teenage striker posted an image of himself signing a contract at the club’s HQ while releasing an official statement thanking his former club Sunderland for the opportunities given to him during his 10-year stint with the youth setup.

He also admitted that though the decision to move to the Gunners was a tough choice he believes this signing would indicate a new chapter in his life.

“Today is the start of a new chapter in my life signing for Arsenal.”I can’t wait to get started, I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead.

“Leaving Sunderland after 10 years the club I love and support was a very hard decision, I have met some special people along the way.

Greenwood was under the radar of several clubs such as German side Stuttgart and United but was swayed by the Gunners’ youth integration policy. Greenwood was spectacular for both Sunderland u16 and u18 squad where he scored an impressive 21 goals in 26 games, He is expected to join the Gunners u18 squad in the cup competitions for the Gunners next season.

Greenwood signing comes after the London club had secured the signing of highly rated French teenager Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient for a reported fee of £7 million. Sunderland would be entitled to a compensation fee for the player.

Arsenal finished a disappointing 6th position last season and Emery has stamped his authority this summer with several new faces arriving the Emirates as he seeks to challenge for the title next season.
