Done Deal: New signing all smiles as he completes Man United move

The most anticipated deal of the January transfer window has finally been confirmed as Chilean striker, Alexis Sanchez officially joins Manchester United on a four-and-a-half year deal.

Alexis Sanchez as quoted on his big money move to Manchester United, he said;

“I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world. He also added,

“I have spent three-and-a-half wonderful years at Arsenal and I bring with me very positive memories of that great club and its fans.

“The chance to play in this historic stadium and to work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down.

“I am very proud to be the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team and I hope I can show our fans all around the world why the club wanted to bring me here.”

With six month left on his existing contract at the Emirates and the striker refusing to sign a new deal, he was destined to leave the north London club this month or risk losing him on a free in the summer and after a failed summer move to the Etihad last summer, he was heavily tipped to join the Citizens this month following an unexpected six week to Manchester City forward, Gabriel Jesus.

However, United’s joining the race to sign the Chilean changed the course of the deal with the Red Devils ready to offer more money and out of favor playmaker, Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a makeweight in the deal, a move which eventually saw the Citizens bow out of the deal as the believe signing the former Barcelona forward is too expensive and might cause unrest in their squad.

The deal is a straight swap deal which Alexis Sanchez move to the Theatre of Dreams while Armenian playmaker, Henrikh Mkhitaryan moves to the Emirates.

The 29-year-old has featured in 22 games across all competition for the Gunners before securing a move to Old Trafford scoring 8 times and providing three assists, but the Old Trafford faithfuls will be hoping he can replicate his last season form of which he scored 30 goals and provided 19 assists in 55 games.

Manchester United signing Alexis Sanchez ahead of neighbors Manchester City shows why they are the biggest club in England and why they can compete at the highest level with the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona in this current transfer market.
