Done deal + picture proof – versatile midfielder all smiles after completing Liverpool move

Liverpool have announced the transfer of U-23 player, Jordan Williams.

Williams has left the club after his contract with the Reds expired. It has been confirmed that he has joined League one side Rochdale where he will continue his development.

The midfielder’s departure was confirmed in the Liverpool’s retained list released last week, as he was included amongst the eight players released by the club.

The 22-year-old has signed a permanent deal with Rochdale which will tie him down to a two-year stay at the club. He is no stranger at the Crown Oil Arena, as he did play there for six months before suffering a knee injury. The injury saw him stay on the sidelines for seven months. However, he has fully recovered and is set for the new challenge.

The Rochdale fans are happy with this announcement having seen him make 14 appearances for them last term.

The player is delighted by his transfer move, and has stated he had no other option in mind but Rochdale.

“I feel as though I’ve got unfinished business here. I had interest from elsewhere, but as soon as Keith Hill got on the phone to me, there was no other club that I wanted to go to.

“It’s a brilliant move for me – I know the Gaffer well and I know that he has wanted me since he found out that there could be a chance of me coming back here.

“I know the training, I know what he wants from games and how he likes to play – he’s a perfect match for me,” he was quoted as saying via Rochdale’s official website.

Williams, who joined Liverpool at U14 level, made his only senior appearance in League Cup clash against Middlesbrough, coming on as a substitute in 79th minute for Jordan Rossiter.
