Done deal? prolific striker agrees personal terms to seal Chelsea transfer

The winter window is a period where clubs are actively involved in strengthening their teams by adding players to their squad or reducing the number of players for the benefit of others.

Chelsea however are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for 31-year-old Argentinean striker, Gonzalo Higuain after completing the signing of Christian Pulisic who will join in the summer.

The former Real Madrid man was linked to Chelsea all summer but a deal failed to materialised back then but it seems a breakthrough has been made in this winter window.

Higuain is a prolific striker who has been in the business of scoring goals for both country and club for close to a decade. His stats are annoyingly impressive even though there is been a sharp decline in his once stellar career.

The former Napoli striker has scored a whooping 290 goals in 570 career appearances that include spells with Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus and recently AC Milan.

Whilst at Napoli, he equalled the highest number of goals scored in a single campaign in Serie A (36) under now Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri.

He is currently at Milan on loan following the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo by Juventus from Real Madrid for a huge sum of £105 million.

However, in the early months of completing a loan move to AC with an option to purchase, he scored 7 goals in 9 features but he has hit a patch which has seen him scored 1 in 11 appearances.

Chelsea’s manager, Maurizio Sarri is a huge admirer of the argentine and is hopeful that he can turn the player’s misfortune in front of goal around and hence the need to invest £36 million on him.

Sarri is convinced that the 31-year-old former Napoli ace is an upgrade to 27-year-old Alvaro Morata whose 18 months in London is a write off.

Although there is a little doubt over Higuain’s ability to marshal a front line in the Premier league at his age.
