Emery eyes €20m midfielder as Ramsey replacement

Arsenal have been floundering in the past few weeks in the league as the club have not been in the greatest form. The announcement of the signing of Aaron Ramsey by Juventus saw the club undergo increased scrutiny about its recent transfer activities.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Gunners have lined up Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega as a direct replacement for the Welsh midfielder. Banega has been linked to the club since the arrival of Unai Emery but no deal has materialized so far.

The 30-year-old is among the best midfielders in the Spanish League and understands the demands of playing under Emery. He also has a low buyout clause of €20 million which is an attractive prospect for the Gunners.

Banega has refused to sign a new contract with the Spanish side and many within the club believe that this could be his last season with the club.

The former Valencia ace is vastly experienced and has amassed 65 caps for his country Argentina. He is known for his set-piece abilities as well as his playmaking skills which he uses to dictate the tempo of the game.

Arsenal currently lie 5th in the Premier League table and face Bate Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday as they look to overturn a 1-0 deficit at the Emirates.
