Emre Can’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can recently confirmed how honoured he feels to have been targeted by Juventus amid exit rumours.

The German international footballer is yet to extend his contract at Liverpool despite being in the final year of his contract which has raised concerns about his potential move away from the Premier League side.

The 23-year-old is reported to have declined extending his contract at Liverpool due to demands Liverpool are unwilling to offer such as the inclusion of a release clause in the new contract which may not permit Liverpool to keep him for long as this clause can be triggered at any time. Liverpool were also able to sign Can by triggering his release while he was still playing at German Bundesliga.

The central midfielder joined Liverpool from Bayern Leverkusen after activating his release clause of £9.75 million in the summer of 2014. Liverpool may risk losing him for free as he will be allowed to sign pre-contract agreement with an overseas club as from January.

Can has so far made 94 league appearances for Liverpool scoring 7 goals within this period but he is desirable because of his versatility and can function as a central midfielder, defensive midfielder, centre back and a full back.

He was on fire for the German National team during their World Cup qualifier match after scoring his first goal on international duty which saw Germany cruise to a 5 – 1 win against Azerbaijan to secure a World Cup qualification spot.
