Fans react to Koscielny’s performance

It may not have been a first away win against the ‘Top Six’ since January 2015, but the Gunners will leave the Bridge with their heads held high in an entertaining draw against defending Champions Chelsea.

Arsenal ended a five match losing streak at Stamford Bridge having conceded 15 goals in their last six visits scoring just two but it was a spirited performance from the Gunners having wasted the best opportunities in the game. It was a dramatic end to the game as Brazilian defender David Luiz was sent-off for a poor challenge on Sead Kolasinac. It was Chelsea’s third successive red card against Arsenal and fifth in their last eight games, stretching back to last season’s FA Cup final.

The Gunners defence have often been bullied by the Chelsea’s attack in recent times but they stood up to the test with Laurent Koscienly, Shokdran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal keeping the Blues attackers at bay. The Premier League Champions struggled to create chances and exert themselves on the Gunners with Cech’s most significant action coming in the first half after Pedro was put through on goal with a lovely pass from Fabregas but the Spaniard effort was saved by Petr Cech.

Below is what fans have been saying about Koscienly’s performance against Chelsea on social media platform, twitter:

France International Laurent Koscienly was a rock at the back for the Gunners having won 89% of his aerial duels, made 6 recoveries, 4 interceptions, 3 clearances and 2 blocks. The Gunners Captain led by example and would hope to build on this performance after leading his team to their first away point of the season and stopping the Blues from scoring at Bridge for the first time under Antonio Conte.
