Manchester United have been in the news for the umpteenth time in search of a top defender and myriads have been linked and unlinked.

The recent defender to be mooted is Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar, who despite commanding a huge pay package, Manchester United and PSG are willing to go to war with each other for him.

Prior to watching and analyzing the Slovak, Senegalese central back Kalidou Koulibaly who dons Napoli’s Jersey was hugely admired but the mammoth transfer fee of £93m demanded by Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli’s owner has put United off.

Meanwhile Skriniar has refused to sign a new contract because of disagreement over the terms of the contract. The club is willingly offering an annual sum of £2.2m but the Slovak is holding out for a £3.6m a year pay.

United have reportedly agreed to equal the offer made by Inter, hoping that their history and world wide recognition will lure the impressive defender to sign.

Also, Inter Milan are hoping that a deal for Skriniar valued around £63m would be swift so that they can bring in Uruguay Diego Godin from Atletico Madrid as his replacement.

Atletico Madrid are not keen on letting Godin leave this January and so might hold out until the end of the season if he refuses to sign the contract extension on offer by the club.

This might also drag the deal for Milan Skriniar until the end of season because Inter Milan would not want to be a player short unless an humongous sum is involved.
