Forget Nabil Fekir, Liverpool in talks to sign 66-goal star winger

Liverpool open Xherdan Shaqiri transfer negotiations with stoke City

The rumour surrounding Shaqiri’s transfer to Liverpool has taken a new light with the Telegraph reporting that negotiations had begun.

Shaqiri has been a rumoured target for the Reds before, during and after the World Cup. In the Competition, he played well on a personal level with his country where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Sweden.

Shaqiri, 26, plays for Stoke City. He signed for Bayern Munich from FC Basel after winning the double, consisting of the league title and the Swiss cup.

The Swiss had also played for Inter Milan before finally moving to the EPL with Stoke City on July 2015 for a deal worth £12 million.

For Stoke he played 38 games last season chipping in with 8 goals and making him the highest goal scorer for the club in the just concluded premier league campaign that saw them relegated to the EFL Championship after 10 years in the division.

He (Shaqiri) will feel that he is way too good to play at that level considering the big clubs he has represented and leagues that he has played in throughout his illustrious career.

Furtherance to this, reports have it that the player has hinted that he will depart for a new club and perhaps this meant Liverpool.
