Good news: £17m winger wants to play for Arsenal next season

Arsenal have undergone a summer of recruitment as new manager Unai Emery has stamped his authority on the club with 5 new signings. However one of the fringe players under Arsene Wenger is looking to have a chance to impress Unai Emery. According to reports from England Lucas Perez wants to fight for a spot at the Emirates this season.

The forgotten striker had been linked to a summer exit with Italian side Lazio and Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon reportedly interested in the Spanish forward. However, Perez believes he can force his way into the first team despite being viewed as surplus to requirements.

Perez had a public fallout with former boss Arsene Wenger which led to the player moving on a season-long loan to Deportivo La Coruna last season.  Perez had made up his mind to leave the Emirates this summer but the arrival of Emery has forced a change of mind.

Perez was signed for £17 million 2 seasons ago from Deportivo La Coruna but flopped in his debut season making just 11 premier league starts for the Gunners scoring a solitary goal.

It will be interesting to see how this would play out as Emery has been quick to clear players not in his plans away from the club as seen with the departures of Cazorla, Wilshere and Akpom.

Perez is a nice option for the Arsenal to have on the bench as he [posses more of a goal threat than the limited Danny Welbeck.
