Good news: Arsenal transfer target submits transfer request

Arsenal have been granted a transfer boost as target Mehdi Benatia has reportedly submitted a transfer request. Benatia has seen his playing time reduce due to the arrival of Leonardo Bonucci in the summer and is reported to be contemplating leaving the Turin club.

The Morroco International’s agent Moussa Sissoko is said to have met Juventus chief Fabio Paratici in Milan in which he informed the club of his client’s request. Benatia made his name at Roma before joining Bayern Munich. The 31-year-old is known for his defensive abilities and tenacity at the back.

It is understood that Arsenal and AC Milan have expressed interest in signing the veteran defender. Saudi Arabia side AL-Ittihad are also rumored to have made contact with the player’s representatives.

Benatia would be a good bargain signing for the Gunners and would increase the options available to Unai Emery. A loan move could be on the cards in January with an option to buy in the summer.

The former Roma defender is believed to be valued at around £10 million. Benatia to Arsenal could be involved in a swap deal between both clubs, as Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey has reportedly agreed to move to Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the season.

However, Juventus could look to fast track the transfer by offering Benatia as part of a swap deal for Ramsey.
