Good news: Manchester United reach agreement with 21 year old

Manchester United have extended the contract of Ireland U21 goalkeeper, Kieran O’Hara till 2020. The young goalkeeper is highly rated at Old Trafford and is now expected to stay at the club for the next three years. Nicky Butt, the United paged now in charge of the club’s academy, was pictured in the snapshot when the player inked his new deal.

The player’s agent confirmed on Instagram that the  player signed the extension at our training complex on Friday, as the club rewarded him for his fine performances from last season to this term. He has played for the likes of Morecambe and Stockport as he bids to develop to a player capable of playing for our illustrious club but is now firmly established as the club’s U23 first choice shotstopper.

He was named on the substitutes bench for the final game of last season, a game against Crystal Palace but has not been named in the matchday squad ever since. He has also been added to the club’s Champions League squad and was handed the no 45 jersey, a statement that the club sees him as a potential member of the first team. Silvino Louro and Emilio Alvarez, the club’s goalkeeping coaches have had him involved in the preparations for the matchday goalkeepers to assist them.

O’Hara, who was born in Manchester is one of young goalies at Old Trafford hoping to make the grade at the club. Fellow goalie, Sam Johnstone is on loan at Aston Villa and is impressing in the Championship, which is also a route the club can employ with the Irishman. He needs to go on loan to aid his development and gain him real-life situations in his department.

United are looking to the future, as we have improved our youth development in recent years to match the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. The player is also expected to have a further year option on his current contract, as the likes of David De Gea, Johnstone and Romero all have the clauses in their contracts.
