English outfit, Tottenham Hotspur has been given a major boost in their pursuit of out-of-favor Barcelona star, Andre Gomes with the Portuguese reportedly keen on securing a move away from the Nou Camp this month following the high profile arrival of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool few days ago.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp since last summer after falling to nailing down a starting berth under both Luis Enrique and new Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde.

He has struggled to replicate the brilliant form he displayed at Valencia which convinced Spanish giants, Barcelona to shell out a reported €35 million in the summer of 2016 for his signature.

Metro suggests the Portuguese is pushing for a winter exit from the Nou Camp due to the arrival of Phillipe Coutinho from Liverpool and believes not getting enough playing time would hamper his chances of representing his country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia this summer.

Reports making the rounds suggests north London club Tottenham are keen on signing the midfielder this month having lost to rivals Chelsea in the chase for former Everton midfielder, Ross Barkley.

The former Benfica midfielder has been a regular for the Portuguese national team since he made his debut in 1-0 loss to Albania on the 7th of September 2014 and was part of the team that won the 2016 European Championship held in France.

The 24-year-old has featured 14 times across all competitions for the Catalans having started majorly from the bench and he is often deployed as a central midfielder.

Given Mauricio Pochettino’s track record of developing young players, he could revive his failing career under the tutelage of the Spanish tactician.
