Manchester United interest in English Full-back Danny Rose appears to have cooled down

Based on latest reports coming to England, United Manager Mourinho believes he has sufficient cover in the left-back position. British tabloid Daily Mirror claims the manager has informed club executive Ed Woodward of his decision not to pursue the Tottenham defender.

The 27-year-old was reportedly high on United’s wish list, with Mourinho unimpressed with Luke Shaw’s performances last season.  However the signing of Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot has apparently led to a change of heart as he can play both right and left full-back positions.

Also, the reported fee of £50 million demanded by Tottenham for the player whose form has dipped over the past season is also another factor. Ashley young’s renaissance at left back has also provided the club with short term option for the position, however the player would be turning 33 at the start of the new season.

Danny Rose, who ranks top amongst the best left backs in England, had an indifferent performance last season. The left-back who recently admitted to fighting depression had a public fall out with his club over a new contract and struggled with injuries. He made only 14 appearances in all competitions last season for third-placed Tottenham.
