Having started the season in sensational form under the Special One, providing five assists in his first three top flight games many suggested the Armenian playmaker was going to play a key role in the Red Devils title hunt this season, but few months into the new season, his series of lacklustre display saw him being ousted out of the starting eleven with Jose Mourinho preferring to opt for the rejuvenated Jesse Lingard in the hole behind the striker ahead of the Armenian after series of impressive displays.

However, his 18-month old spell at the Theatre of Dreams came to an abrupt end in the January transfer window after failing to replicate his early season form and was included in a direct swap deal that saw Chilean striker, Alexis Sanchez move to Old Trafford while the attacking midfielder moves in the opposite direction.

In as much as his debut at the Liberty Stadium didn’t start on a good note after the Gunners fell to a shocking 3-1 defeat away at Swansea, he showed the Emirates faithful flashes of his brilliance, providing three assist in the Gunners 5-1 mauling of Sam Allardyce’s Everton on his home debut on Sunday.

The 29-year-old was unplayable and at his creative best against the Toffees at the Emirates on Sunday having made three interceptions, created three chances of which all were converted, won four tackles, made 62 touches, completed one take-on and also provided an hat-trick of assists, a feat which has only been achieved by the Armenian in the Premier League this season.

Despite the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder failing to nail down a starting berth at Old Trafford, he looks settled at the Emirates already and could be set to flourish at Arsenal under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger like he did in his final season at the Signal Iduna where he scored 23 goals and provided 32 assists in 52 games across all competitions for the German outfit.

He could also be pivotal in the north London club hunt for the Europa League glory and a top four finish.
