As Chelsea’s Diego Costa is edging closer to a return to Atletico Madrid, the Brazilian as affirmed that he holds no grudge against Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte and he has nothing but love for the fans of the blues side.

The Spain international is set to join Atletico Madrid in January after Chelsea had on Thursday confirmed their agreement to sell the Brazilian to his former club for a fee estimated at £58million subject to the agreement of personal terms and a medical. Diego Costa has since traveled to Madrid on Thursday and is expected to land on Friday to conduct his medicals and agreement of other necessary terms in order to finalize the move.

Diego Costa could have signed for Atletico Madrid in the summer after he fell out with his coach Antonio Conte during pre-season for texting him that he was not in his plans for the new season; he also accused Chelsea of treating him like a criminal and failed to return to England to join his teammates.

Unfortunately for him, Atletico were serving a FIFA ban which is expected to be lifted by January when the Brazilian will be able to reunite with his former manager Diego Simeone to fight for his spot in the team with players like Antonie Griezmann, Fernando Torres, and several others leading the attack for the Spanish side.

In his previous spell at Atletico Madrid, Diego Costa was part of the team that won the La Liga and Copa Del Rey title in 2013 where he scored 52 goals in 95 games before joining Chelsea in 2014. During his time at Chelsea, the 28 year made 89 appearances, scoring 59 goals with 2 English Premier League Trophies and a League Cup title adding to his medals.

When asked about the grudge with Conte in his recent interview he said;

“There’s nothing of the sort here, I’m not upset with anybody, I have no bitterness towards anyone. Everything is cool.”
