Jose Mourinho sends message to Man United fans about Paul Pogba amid Barcelona links

Manchester United began their premier league challenge with a Paul Pogba inspired  2-1 victory against Leicester City on Friday. His performance was more impressive as he just resumed to the first team on Monday and had little match fitness.

His third-minute spot kick helped dictate the tempo for the entire match and he sat deeper in the second half to quell Leicester period of domination. Mourinho praised  Pogba’s performance and called him a monster in his post-match interview.

He also said that Pogba was expected to last only 60 minutes but ended up playing 80 minutes which shows his willingness to sacrifice for the team. This indicates the remarkable turn around from earlier in the week were reports circulated of the player wanting a move to Barcelona.

“Pogba was a monster,”. “We thought maximum (he could play) 60 minutes, but he managed 80.” “Even if I forget the goal, it was a complete performance,”

Mourinho also praised match-winner Luke Shaw for his all-round performance in the match. Shaw has been one of the players that have suffered the brunt of Mourinho’s criticism since his arrival at the club.

The 23-year-old put in the shift marshalling the left side of the defence and chipping in with his first career goal with a crispy finish.

United would be hopeful that the opening game victory sets the tempo for what would be a successful season for the Old Trafford outfit.
