Liverpool have been building steam ahead of what could be their biggest season in a long while as they seek to wrestle the League title from Manchester City. The Anfield side next face Brighton and Klopp revealed in his pre-match conference that Dejan Lovren is set to miss at least two games.

The German confirmed that although he has started training he is not fit enough to take part in the first team training until after the international break.

“He is not really around team training around at the moment. I am pretty sure no chance for the Leicester game. Hopefully ok after international break.”

This would allow Lovren to enough time to get match fitness. Lovren is expected to play a vital role for the Reds this season alongside record signing Van Dirk.

Lovren redeemed himself with his performances at the World Cup leading from the back as Croatia finished second in the Competition. Previously derided as error-prone since his arrival at Liverpool the defender would be hoping to continue that form into the new season.

Lovren arrived from Southampton some few seasons ago and has emerged as a mainstay in the backline of the Reds. Liverpool face Brighton and Leicester in their next two fixtures meaning that Lovren could feature in the blockbuster clash against Tottenham on the 15th of September.
