Why Liverpool can cause an upset against Manchester United

Manchester United have enjoyed their best start to a Premier League campaign since 2011/12 under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson and have been tipped to challenge for the Premier League title this season. Manchester United have maintained an unbeaten start to the season winning six and drawing one and are tied on point alongside rivals Manchester City, but sit second on the log with the Citizens boasting of a superior goal difference.

However, arch-rivals Liverpool have had a stop-start season to their Premier League campaign having won three, drawn three and lost one but with the Reds welcoming the Twenty time champions next week Saturday at Anfield and will be looking at causing an upset against an in-form United side.

Liverpool possess one of the best attacking force in the league with the likes of Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philipe Coutinho but their Achilles heel this season has been their defensive frailties at the back and are known for conceding sloppy goals but in a game against bitter rivals Manchester United form counts for nothing and whoever wins the game will be the team that wants it the most.

The Kopites are famously called the ‘Robin Hood’ of the Premier League who takes from the rich and gives to the poor, their record against top six sides last season was fascinating winning five, drawing five and losing none against the big boys last term. Although, their record of not losing against a top six side came to an abrupt end against table toppers Manchester City losing 5-0 at the Etihad last month. The Reds will be hoping to put an end to their bad run of form against bitter rivals Manchester United at Anfield having secured just one win in their last seven matches in all competition knowing fully well a win wll improve the mood at the club.

German tactician Jurgen Klopp failed to win against a pragmatic Jose Mourinho side last season with both ties ending in a draw but will be looking at ending the Red Devils unbeaten start to the season.

Manchester United are looking like real contenders for the title and will go into the match at Anfield as favorites, but United must approach the game with cautious optimism as their is no better team to cause an upset than Liverpool.
